This red timber country home for sale in Småland, near Forserum, has stayed in one family since the 1700s and has never been on the open market.
The farmstead is known as Finneryd Frälsegården, and it has passed down through the generations. Inside are 85 m² of living space, wide plank floors, a wood-burning stove, a baking oven and two fireplaces. Outside you get lawns, traditional wooden fences and a plot of 2,554 m². It is a quiet place, and the seasons set the rhythm of the day.
### The Timber House at Finneryd
The ground floor holds a kitchen and dining area, a living room, a bedroom and a hallway. At the back, an extended entrance leads to the bathroom. Upstairs there are three to four more rooms. Some buyers will turn them into bedrooms, others into a guest room or a home office. The layout is flexible enough to follow your plans rather than dictate them.
The house is in good condition and has been looked after steadily. The back of the house was extended in the 1970s. A well was drilled in 1991 and a three-chamber septic system was installed in 1994. In 2013 the house and the outbuilding were renovated on the outside. All the vertical wood paneling was replaced, along with the fascia boards and parts of the sheet metal work, and new windows went in at the same time. For anyone weighing up a timber house in Sweden, that is the sort of maintenance history worth asking about.
### Outbuildings and 2,554 m² of Land
Several outbuildings come with the plot. There is an older storage building, a spacious root cellar, a small building that houses the water system and a newer storage shed. A workshop or hobby space could fit into one of them, though that is for you to judge on a visit.
