This five-bedroom Victorian house for sale in Leitrim sits on the historic Lough Rynn Estate, a short walk from Lough Rynn Castle.
Willow Lodge dates from around 1890 and stands on Lords Avenue, a tree-lined drive inside the estate. It has 265 m² of living space, five bedrooms, four bathrooms and private gardens on a plot of 3,490 m². The ground and first floors are in good order. The top floor is a project, and we say so plainly below.
### The House: Double-Height Hall and Period Rooms
The front door opens into a hall that rises through two storeys, with a gallery landing on the first floor looking down into it. Cast-iron radiators and other period details have been kept, so the house still feels like a Victorian home rather than a renovation.
On the ground floor there are several reception rooms. You get a formal sitting room, a second dining area, the Blue Room with its French-inspired touches, and a snug with a traditional range cooker. The country-style kitchen has a separate walk-in larder and plenty of storage. Next to it, the dining area has French doors onto the private rear garden, which makes it an easy place to eat in summer with the doors open.
Upstairs, four bedrooms lead off the gallery. The principal suite has a walk-in wardrobe, a separate dressing or storage room, an ensuite bathroom and a large balcony over the mature estate grounds. A second double bedroom has its own ensuite, and the family bathroom has a freestanding cast-iron bath. The gallery itself is wide enough to work as a library, a home office or a reading corner.
### The Second Floor: What Still Needs Doing
The top floor holds a bedroom, a shower room, storage areas and a light-filled studio or snug with a full-height bay window faci ... click here to read more
