Stand in the Great Hall of Lickleyhead Castle on a still October morning. Built in 1580 and expanded across the 17th and 18th centuries into its distinctive L-shaped form, Lickleyhead Castle sits on the lower slopes of Bennachie—the granite hill that Aberdeenshire farmers have used as a landmark for a thousand years. Grade A Listed by Historic Environment Scotland, it carries the fingerprints of clans Leslie, Leith, Forbes, Duff, and Lumsden. You feel that weight of time not as burden but as atmosphere.
